A surprise last-minute appearance by U.S. Vice President JD Vance at a Denver area trailer parts store was abruptly canceled a day before the event.
JD Vance is in Colorado Springs Thursday morning to deliver a speech to the U.S. Air Force Academy’s latest graduates, and the Denver Republican Party on Tuesday announced Vance would stop by Denver for an event later Thursday afternoon.
“This is a real moment,” the Denver Republicans said in a Facebook post. “A sitting Vice President of the United States, on a stage in our city, in the middle of a cycle where Colorado is going to matter more than it has in a long time.”
That moment didn’t last long, however, as just 24 hours later, the Denver Republican Party on Wednesday said the event had been canceled. The event was also scheduled to be at All Truck and Trailer Parts at 1350 W. 62nd Pkwy., which has a Denver address but is in unincorporated Adams County.
The Denver Republican Party did not state a reason for the cancellation, only thanking supporters for the response to the event.
“Thank you to everyone who planned to come out,” the Denver Republican Party said in the Wednesday update. “It shows how fired up Denver Republicans are heading into November.”
Colorado has garnered attention heading into the 2026 midterms, as Colorado’s 8th Congressional District has become one of the most competitive districts in the country, with some saying it could help decide which party controls the U.S. House of Representatives.
